The Secret Clan - Prologue

The wind blew above foreign treetops, creating a ghostly howl. The wide circle of the moon sent pale light shooting through the gaps in the leaves. The breeze brought scents of prey, and of course - cats. With starry pelts, they flitted into the clearing. There seemed to be some sort of unspoken order among the starlit warriors, each cat knew its place. From the vast crowd, a large tabby tom stepped forward, only distinguished by his anxious amber eyes and the stars that fizzed from his paws.
"They have to leave." The old MeadowClan leader spoke over the roar of the wind. "And quickly." His eyes darkened as troubling thoughts raced through his aged mind.
"But where will they go, Stonestar? And how will they find their destiny?" inquired a scruffy looking gray tom.
"It is unspoken, Rabbitclaw.” Stonestar shuffled his paws, taking discomfort in not having the knowledge to help his starry clanmates.

“Mintfur,” Rabbitclaw meowed, spotting an elderly gray she-cat at the back of the group, watching the old MeadowClan leader with unwavering eyes.

“Will you speak for their fate?"
Every cat turned and looked questioningly at Mintfur, who now had her eyes downcast. Her pelt rippled with stars as she rose. She spoke with a voice not her own, but of many voices combined.

"Follow the water and you will meet fire, but beware of darkness."
All eyes were on her, confused, and at last a voice broke the intense silence

"Another prophecy? But what does it mean?” Asked a new voice. It was Chairleg, a plump brown tabby, once a kittypet who had joined MeadowClan moons ago.
"I don't know. The Clan will have to figure out it by themselves. But I see darkness in the Clan, like a bee, poised to sting the Clan..." Mintfur replied, paws trembling.

"Let’s hope they are ready...."
